5 star toilet in thailand

Today's post is about thailand. We have spent a decent amount of time in thailand. i would say approximately 5 months of time during various trips to south east asia. There are MANY MANY kinds of toilets in thailand.  They range from your regular 'western-ish' toilet, to the basic squat, to the stand on squat. To see pictures from 2011 Songrkan in Bangkok check out my other blog.

The mention stand on squatter. Just when i thought i had gotten the hang of the squat, i came across this beauty at the bus station in Hat Yai. This one is pretty precarious, it's always slight damp in these bathrooms, as you have to use a bucket to dump water into the bowl to flush.

I was pretty impressed when i saw this sign for a 5 star bathroom at the national library in thailand, the picture below is the 5 star bathroom.
the elusive 5 start toilet in asia. It held up to it's promise, it had been cleaned right before i entered. There was a door with a working lock, toilet paper, a toilet seat, and a sink with soap to wash your hands.

Which button do i push?

I'm going to tie my 2 blogs together today (two shots and a kim). today on the other blog i posted photos from the student riots in rome during december of 2010. So i figured what better than to show you what toilets in rome are like.

this WC is hygienized after every use

This is a very common flusher in europe.
 Big flush or little flush,
or as someone has nicely explained
big button pupu, little button pipi

Don't be surprised if you come across a squat in europe, they still exist.
At least they usually have a flusher unlike asia.

Rest stop to no where

Welcome to my new blog! i love bathrooms, and in my travels i have learned that they come in all shapes, sizes, and levels of cleanliness.  Some of the pictures will be of beautiful bathrooms in fancy houses, hotels, or restaurants. Other's like the one above won't be so nice.

The toilet pictured above is from the lone rest stop between cairo and the white desert. This is the restroom i was using when i realized that i was a lot more sick then i originally thought. From this point of the trip for the next 3 months of travel i spent most of my time in the bathroom. At one point we traveled to Dubai, so that i could have a nice fully westernized bathroom....or at least that was our excuse. Subscribe and keep an eye on the blog for more awesome bathroom pictures!
